Do museums foster innovation through engagement with the cultural and creative industries?

Abstract The recent narrative on museums as catalysts of innovation and growth considers their relations with other cultural creative industries (CCIs) to be very important. We argue that most establish CCI firms institutions are unlikely produce strong positive externalities make the latter more innovative. To prove this claim, we propose a conceptual framework qualifying project-based supply chain between CCIs either strong, moderate, or weak links, according potential in terms knowledge spillovers from CCIs. apply taxonomy data collected 261 Polish museums. Our findings indicate links outnumbered by moderate ones. then suggest traditional missions museums, particular education conservation, need thoroughly assessed direct indirect contributions order fully capture impact wider economy.
